Tourist Guide Identification Card
Guide registration is evidenced by a Tourist Guide Identification Card issued by the Provincial Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT), who also issue an official badge showing the guide’s unique registration number, the same number that appears on the person’s Tourist Guide Identification Card.
The card bears the Guide’s photograph, name, DEDT registration number, ID number, and validity period, type of guide (Adventure, Nature or Culture), level, category, and specialities – if any.
Guides may operate only in the area for which they have been registered.
The guide is required by law to always carry the identity card with them and the badge on the upper body where it can be seen.
If there is any doubt as to the Guide’s official registration the Guide should be asked to produce their Tourist Guide Identification Card.
